I love macro.  The world is so vast when you have a macro lens.  With a normal lens I open my door and look at my yard, bleh...boring.

But with a macro lens (or extension tubes) my little 3/4 acre grows to Amazon proportions!  You can always find something interesting to shoot when your frames are 2cm wide.

First image is Physalis pruinosa or Ground Cherry blossom.
Second is a 2mm Anthrenus verbasci or Carpet Beetle sipping nectar from a tiny Dill flower.
Third is Sisyrinchium or Blue-eyed Grass.

I was out on the porch shooting this moderately interesting sunset when I decided I need to dispose of the compost like a good husband  before it gets totally dark.  As I was stirring the can I saw a little twinkle.  A glow worm!  I had always seen them while running through the tall early summer grass as a kid but never really looked at one.
Now I know that aliens exist.

This little dude/lady was trapped on my cactus and after saving it's life it was not terribly cooperative as a model.
Ingrate.
I managed to fire off a few gems before it flipped itself on it's back for the 33rd time.  I think Pearl the Pug ate it after the photo shoot.

I've been vaguely coming down with a cold for what seems like weeks now.  This wimpy virus needs to figure out how to make it's presence known more effectively so my immune system can find it.  My awesome human of a wife let me nap after work.  After-work naps are the best.

No, I did not take a picture of a prune.  This is a large cocoon I found while we were at the lake yesterday.
It's from a giant silkworm moth and looks like a sarcophagus.
