I received my
DIY Photography ring flash kit today! It took about 15 minutes to assemble (it would take any normal human 5 but I'm anal and meticulous, I even wore gloves so not to finger print the reflector). Compared to a $300 "true" ring flash this performs like a dream for $25 buckaroos!
I immediately took it for a test drive. Some quick portraits and then macro.
It is seriously amazing what you are able to capture in a photograph Jared. All I have to say is that I'll never let you anywhere near the pores on my skin. That would so not be a pretty image. I continue to love your stuff!

Did you shoot on Manual or TTL?
ReplyDeletewow, it's truly brilliant for lighting those macro shots. Great stuff, i think i'll have to get one of these too.
ReplyDeleteMight I ask what lens you used for the macros? are you using extension tubes?
Vincent, I typically go manual. Not because I really know what I'm doing but because I have to shoot 100 shots with 100 different settings before I'm satisfied.
ReplyDeleteOisin, I use Kenko DG extention tubes with a 50mm 1.8. I would highly recommend these tubes for the budget photographer. I've used this same set for years and love them.
great, thanks a lot! I've also got a 50mm 1.8 so I'll defiantly invest in a set.
